Concorde Flight to Iceland



I hope this short film gives you some experience of sights and sounds from inside the cabin of Concorde. It was sad to see AA lifeless in the Museum but I am please to see that it is housed with tender loving care. If you listen carefully, you will hear the roar of the take-off, the increased wind noise as the landing gear is extended, the reflection of the noise from the tarmac as we came in to land. You’ll notice in the cockpit that our First Officer was Barbara Harmer, the first and only woman Concorde pilot. Apologies for the vertical banding in the cockpit shot. This seems to be the feature of the mp4 compression. In the cockpit, you may notice that the airspeed was 386kts, the height was 31400ft, the Mach meter was reading 1.01 — so the video of the flight deck was as we were passing through the speed of sound! I’ll upload some clips without backing music so that it is easier to hear the cabin sounds. Music: Flower Duet from an opera called “Lakmé” by Delibes and sound track from the film “The Mission”.     Hi, Loved your footage. I am making a very short film of a visit I made to Concorde at East Fortune in 2006. Would you allow me to use a little of this clip to enhance my film? I am a member of a Camcorder Club and the film would only be used for club competition. You would be mentioned in the end credits if you allow this. Pat

    Yes sure. I’dalready offered the origial clips to the museum directors but they did not respond. Good luck with the video. Like your dolphins - didn’t know you ge the up the Tay

    Thanks. That’s very kind. Might just use the opening clip as I would like to see the aircraft from outside, unless you have any more that is! Just realised too that the day of your flight to Iceland is my birthday - 29th June! Glad you liked our dolphins. They are in the estuary of the Tay during the summer, where fresh water meets the salt. They are wonderful.

    Never flew on Concorde so EXCELLENT film!!!
