Currently Internet Explorer controls the majority of the browser market share, but Firefox is gaining in slowly. Currently Firefox controls 9.95% market share in the U.S., 8.82% in the U.K., 9..86% in Spain, 12.46% in Italy, 14.89% in France, and 28.60% in Germany.
…While Mozilla’s Firefox Web browser has about 10 percent of the Internet browser market in the U.S., it’s got more than one-fourth of the market in Germany, where Net users have always been early adopters of alternatives to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, says Web Side Story’s Geoff Johnston. “Most of these gains appear to have come at the expense of Microsoft,” he notes in a press release.
If Mozilla hopes for similar advances in the U.S. and elsewhere, time is of the essence. Microsoft is putting the finishing touches on the next version of Internet Explorer and it’s expected to boast many of the features that made Firefox famous.Posted: 10/3/06
